Sunlink History

We have a rich history that started in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria with a true pioneer and visionary in Energy. 

Pre-1986

Dr. Olaniyi Olumide started an independent investigation of the petroleum deposits in the western fringe of the Niger Delta with the support of other organizations in Nigeria and overseas 

1986

The company was incorporated on March 26, 1986. To carry on the business of oil and gas exploration and production, sales and marketing.

1987 - 1992

Sunlink Energies conducted operations in OPL 474 under a 60/40 Production Sharing Contract (PSC) with NNPC

1993 - 2004

The Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) awarded both OPL 238 and OPL 311 to Sunlink Energies and Resources Limited on September 29, 2004. 

2005

Sunlink Energies assigned 40% participatory interest in OPL 238 to Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited (SNEPCO). Sunlink Energies and Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited (SNEPCO) signed the Joint Operating Agreement (JOA) for the joint development of the block in September 2005

2006 - 2012

Appraisal wells drilled, feasibility studies concluded,  engagement with potential off-takers 

2013 - 2017

 

 

Conversion of OPL 238 to OML 144

Evaluated/explored other monetisation options

2018

Obtained regulatory approvals. Selected NLNG T7 as monetisation option.

2019

Commenced Pre-Feed. Initiated tendering process for FEED scope.

2020


Commenced HI competitive Front End Engineering Design (FEED) with two Consortia. 

Completed dual FEED EPCIC Tender evaluation.

2022

Target FID on HI Development.
